Thats right its all gold! People here in New Mexico think their shit is gold, doesn't matter what it is its worth a fortune.
Every time i searched the news paper or craigslist people here a selling used garbage some times at what you could buy the items for new, its horrible. I started looking for a tractor, i bought the local papers and checked craigslist, it seemed to me that the prices were really high so i started checking my neighboring states and i found the same equipment for half the price. I went to auctions and it was just as bad there tractors were selling for double what i saw them for in other states. Its not like there is a shortage of tractors in this state, there has to be one or 2 in every field most rotting in to the ground from lack of use. Its Gold! I think these people have been out in the sun to long.
Even when you go to the flea market/swap meet the prices are outrageous. People drag shit out of fields and want a damn fortune for it. I went to a flea market and just happened to be standing there while a guy was talking to someone selling a chain saw, The guy wanted to know the price he was told the chain saw had a blown/frozen motor and that it would cost $70 but for $120 the guy could free up the engine. He didnt say make it run he said free it up for $120!
Forget saving money shopping at the the thrift stores, you might as well go buy new clothes the prices are so high. Some thrift stores even go through the clothes and remove any brand name clothing and price it even higher. They also raise the price according to size.
There is something really wrong with the people in this state.

Hello!
This was a mistake to move here for me. I'm very sad because I live the concept of "old-west." But these people are missing something in their brains. I moved here and took Amtrak 1st Class sleeper and called a a hotel ($130 per night) to pick me up and they told me "Well, can't you walk?" LOL And that is NM and that's what kind of people these are. Skip Albuquerque and go to Santa Fe, better class of people for sure, That's why it's world famous.
Beautiful state ruined by the very people who live in-it: Thugs and drugs and Poorly uneducated, uncultured, un-socialized Hispanics who like gang and prison culture and have no social skills. Tattoos all over the face&Body and women here are nasty hoochis (White or Hispanic)with no class at all. Sad state really. I wouldn't raise my kids here. tat's on your face with gang signs is the norm here. Weird but true. I wouldn't do business here if I could. Run as fast as you can! Go to Phoenix, Tucson, or Texas! Santa Fe is great but if you're out of luck here in this city they send U too Albuquerque. We are moving back to San Francisco, Portland Oregon or Boston. Sad but this has been a huge disappointment.
I went to buy a bookshelf from a seller on Craig's List - he listed it for $80. When I got there I tried to pick it up to see how heavy it was and it literally fell apart! This is not hyperbole, people here do think their sht is gold. AND...when you have something of REAL value that you are selling, forget about anyone giving you fair price,i it's just simply amazing how effing stupid people are here!!!
New Mexico is a fine place to come and die. If the drunks don't get you the cops will probably shoot you in the back 5 to 15 times.
I have come to observe, it is the people that make it so bad. Actually the state is quite nice. It would be perfect if you could just get rid of say 90% of the current population. Politics and politicians are the worst. Panhandlers are three deep on every corner. The school system is ... well it is something. Prices are big city high and pay is backwoods small town low. Taxes are around 30%. Don't believe me. Figure it out. You pay tax on tax on everything you buy. Go figure? Come on down and live here a while. You will soon discover the hidden tax on tax. Then just wait till you retire.
Of all the people I have ever worked with and who retired all have left the state because of the income tax gouging them to death.
I hear we are a poverty state. I noticed that the only people in poverty are the ones who choose to work for a living. All others are on welfare and living high.
Grade school children waddle down the road to the bus stop weighing in at several hundred pounds each. Free meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served at school.
While my parents worked for a living I had a dry peanut butter on bread sandwich for lunch. Free food and utilities, section 8 housing and welfare, food stamps and assistance for every need is abundant for those who choose not to work. Teen pregnancy starting at 12 to 13 years old is standard.
I can say this as I have lived here for over 65 years. Born and raised in this backwards ruled place.
My son in law moved his family out back east. I hear that they have found people who speak to one another and not shoot each other there. Kids actually play in the street and don't have to cower behind walls to avoid gang drive by shootings all night. Schools are teaching from books and are not used as supply outlets for drugs.
I would like to move to. I am to old and my life is already spent. Besides I would not know what to do if I had neighbors who were like neighbors in the books I read. Instead of the thugs and idiots I am currently surrounded by.
This is really a bad place to raise a family. Or to visit. New Mexico people suck. It is not getting any better as time goes on.
